Kids of the Future: Aluminum foil hats for CAPfest

Title: Kids of the Future

Project: Students will create aluminum foil hats to wear during the CAPfest parade on Friday, April 16th, 2010

Goal:
-learn about building forms in real space
-think three-dimensionally
-explore the material of aluminum foil and wire

Materials:
-aluminum foil
-wire
-name tags
-markers

set up:
-ask ms. Arlene if we can take students to capfest on april 16th
-ask if she has permission forms for crispus attucks
-put out journals, markers, name tags

Timeline:
-sit down, write your name on your name tag
-write in journal
-collect journal

-describe capfest
-describe hat project (show examples)
-talk about form:
-three-dimensional/real space
-height, width and depth
-sculpture (vs. drawing/painting), buildings, furniture, people

-work on hats

-present and collect
-hand out snack and permission forms

Journal Question: If you lived in the future, what would you invent?
